I’m getting a great deal on an Exos X20. However, I don’t have a NAS.

What do I need is a reliable, high capacity external HDD that I can use to hoard and carry my data around.

Since these drives use SATA connectors, can you just connect a SATA cable to these drives, plug them into a laptop and use it as an external drive? Would it work?

I have no experience with these helium filled drives and reaching out to the community here to enlighten me whether they could work for the above use case.

    As long as it’s SATA it’ll work, but in many regions it isn’t worth it as the sales on externals are much better (and they come with the enclosure too). I mean you can’t easily beat the $199.99 18TB Easystore.
