Hello. I really need to backup nearly 1TB of diverse data (videos, photos, csv, etc,) and expect to need more storage in the future. I have a 1TB HDD that I think is about to die. As I am on a very short budget, and also need to travel and use that data more or less often, I’ve narrowed down my options to:

  • This SAMSUNG SSD T7 Portable External Solid State Drive 2TB, USB 3.2 Gen 2 = 99 USD sale
  • This Crucial MX500 2TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD on this ORICO 2.5 inch External Hard Drive Enclosure USB 3.0 to SATA III enclosure. = 87 USD

What are your thoughts? Any experience on that Crucial internal SSD + enclosure setup? Thanks in advanced.

The Crucial option is good because of more upgrade ability in the future. But - here’s another idea, that’s right around $100 but will be even smaller & more portable: Drive like this one: https://a.co/d/2dnQ1w1 With an adapter like this one: https://a.co/d/eiYVTvu

That said, I think your crucial SSD+enclosure would work just fine. I’ve got one of the m.2 adapters above and it’s a handy little thing so I know that works, too.
