Found this NUC for 25 bucks and knew I could use it.
This is what I want to do with it:
1). Stream with web browser to a 4k tv. 2). Run Jellyfin server 3). Run Unifi controller
Like others have said, Debian. I like it for any box that I will run as a server or a bunch of docker containers. Reliability and low maintenance are the main reasons I’d choose Debian in those use cases.
Debian. Always Debian.
I tried to run the Unifi controller on other versions of linux and it was a disaster and a pain in the ass.
Debian is the way to go here https://www.unihosted.com/blog/how-to-install-unifi-controller-on-linux
Good to know.
Use it in a docker container either way.
My knee jerk reaction was to do linux mint xfce but I’ve been going down rabbit holes for better options and not been able to settle on one. Hence me making this post.
Debian or Ubuntu LTS versions are a good choice for a max 8 GB of ram.
Arch Linux or its variants (like EndeavourOS) are nice if you don’t want to reinstall it regularly, just run updates.
