Hi. I have an ONT. I’d like to move the ONT from its location to a different part of my home.

I do not have fibre to the new location, only Cat 6. Can I purchase a pair of Fibre to RJ45 converters and still expect the ONT to work on the other end?

I know my ISP does Mac/Serial detection on the ONTs so the ONT must be the one establishing the connection and this data must be unchanged, I’d have thought most F->Eth converters do not establish a connection to the OLT, but simply pass through transparently any data they are converting.

Anybody have any experience here? TIA.

So you want to add 2 devices just to convert optical>electrical and then electrical to optical? What have you gained by this?

It would be better to extend the fiber cable using a fiber coupler and a pre-connectorized fiber patch cable than introducing 2 additional component failing electrical devices to a passive link.
