Hi. I have an ONT. I’d like to move the ONT from its location to a different part of my home.

I do not have fibre to the new location, only Cat 6. Can I purchase a pair of Fibre to RJ45 converters and still expect the ONT to work on the other end?

I know my ISP does Mac/Serial detection on the ONTs so the ONT must be the one establishing the connection and this data must be unchanged, I’d have thought most F->Eth converters do not establish a connection to the OLT, but simply pass through transparently any data they are converting.

Anybody have any experience here? TIA.

Of-course not, and I value any and all replies - I hope though, that me indicating my question is more asking whether this is “theoretically or actually” possible rather than advice on whether I should or should not do this, so the thread does not become entrenched in noise, I am sure there will be people in future, who may also seek an answer to this question, too :).

I should have said in the initial post that asking the ISP to move the ONT, or running RJ45 from the ONT and keeping it in place, are not options - apologies.

You do not value all replies or you wouldn’t be so rude with some of the replies you have given back.
