150 would be fine. 40 is probably okay, but if these are the real prices and not a promo you might as well do the 150. Any more will probably not make a difference for most people.

It is easier to start lower and ask for more then to “downgrade” later if you have more than you need (so I find.

150 should be bang on. With four of you 40 could end up a bit contentious, four of you streaming individually with laptops / phone etc at the same time.

For the price differences, the 300 plan seems right. Everything up to that is a £5 increase. Above that and it’s £10 increase so I believe the 300 plan would be ideal with only being £5 more than the 150 plan. Entirely up to you if saving £5 is worth it.

I’ve got 150Mb atm and its great for multiple streams with 3 people using it and no issues with WFH. start with this speed then upgrade if required.

The best service I can get is 50/15 (on the plus side, it’s very reliable). I’ve been living with it for over two years and it’s ok for one person. I have no issues with normal internet stuff and watching 4k streams. In your shoes I would go for the 150 option.

Update: for some reason using mobile on thinkbroadband my postcode gave a bunch of options that aren’t possible.

Does anyone know if a local provider installed the cabling (Airband in this case, a devon provider) am I limited to going with them? Thinkbroadband seems to be giving incorrect information like I can get BT 40 meg but when I use their checker they are only offering 4g broadband.

It depends how many different streams will have running. 40 mbps is probably needed per screen or even more but 40 is absolute min for 4k. If you want to have enough room for people to stream and room for anything else they want to do you need 300 mbps minimum.

If you are down loading lots of large file then 300. If you have multiple computers streaming then 300. 150 would seem be fine for you. I am stuck at 20 in my area and have about 15 devices connected to the internet along with streaming NetFlix and all runs fine. Now downloading and uploading large file is slow but not that slow. Get what you can afford.

If B4RN is an option it’s a no brainer I would recommend them over any kind of FWA architecture. Solid connection and community based. Win Win.
