Hello! Home networking noob here, but looking to set up what to me is pretty complicated VPN using Wireguard. As this is my first time dealing with this, was wondering if anyone knew of any “consultants” where I could pay to have someone walk me through set up etc. Sorry if this is not allowed, or not specific enough. I can add more detail if needed.

Thanks so much in advance!

On YouTube, both Tom Lawrence (Lawrence Systems) and Crosstalk Solutions are networking consultants for hire. There are many others but these two occurred to me first.

You might start by watching Crosstalk Solutions: Watch “01 - Introduction to Home Networking - Home Networking 101” on YouTube

Also, Tom Lawrence "Watch “Tutorial: pfsense Wireguard For Remote Access” on YouTube

If you’re a networking noob, look into using Tailscale. It’s built on top of Wireguard, but greatly simplifies building and accessing a private network, without needing to fuss with routers, Port Forwarding, config files, static routes, split tunnel, etc.

All you need is a Google or Apple account, or something with a unified login. Install Tailscale on the devices you want on your private network. Maybe set up one as an “Exit Node” if needed.

You can do all this in minutes, then take your sweet, sweet time learning how it all works.

And it’s all free, and mostly open source.
