Hello There,
I am about to buy a NAS and think about going 10G connection to one PC.
I am wired with CAT7 and a length of 15-20 Meters between NAS and PC. Unfortunately, I had to squish the cables and couldn’t use the cornering radius.
I know this will have impact on the 10g connection. But in which way? Will the connection just be slower? Or is it prone to conection losses?
Thank you!
If there is cable damage, you could get only 100 Mbps, or nothing at all. There is no in-between.
“Cat 7” cabling could be scammy and not perform for you—lots of folks think that “bigger is better” but that’s not the case in the Categories of cabling. For your use, Cat 6A, 6, perhaps 5e, or even maybe Cat 5 could work.
