Im in a home built in 2000 and I have no experience in electrical work so I am a little spooked. I don’t want to hit any pipes or wires…. Do I need to put the hole 7 inches up or something?

Drill and go
“Tear down that wall!”
I’ll probably get backlash for this but I’m pretty brave. I’d just smash the head of a hammer through the wall and cover it with a brush wall plate. You can already see where your studs are.
It’s called an ethernet cable. Not cat cable. No catcalling please.
Use the Gilfoyle Method
Kick a hole.
First, ask the warden for a geologist’s hammer…
- Hammer.
- Put hole in wall.
- Screw driver.
- Poke screw driver through hole to make another hole on other side.
- Use hammer to make other hole bigger from other side.
- RJ45 face plate with female/female keystone
- Use 12" cable to and attach to faceplate, cover hole.
- Grab cable from other end, attach cable to remaining face plate.
- Place over that hole.
- Profit.
