Hello all.

I’m in the process of upgrading my network and I have switched to TP-Link Omada capable switches and routers.

Temporarily to help segregate my network, I connected my previous ASUS router (GT-ax11000) to the new TP-Link router (ER8411). All the devices on the 2nd (ASUS) router are wireless devices that I would not like to have not access to my main network (cameras, kids devices, smart tvs). All the TP-Link equipment is vlan capable, but the ASUS router is not.

However, the devices connected to the ASUS router often hang when connecting to webpages or opening apps. Is there anything I can do (NAT rules, DNS servers, etc.) to get more reliable Internet on the devices connected to the 2nd router.

Yes, I know dual routers are not generally recommended, but I can’t afford new wireless APs yet. But in the future I will probably replace the other router with vlan capable APs.

Edit: sorry for the crazy first version reddit hates my phone.

I’d pick up a tp link omada access point or two then make Vlans to separate your network. Ditch the other routers.
