I’ve got a 1g fiber line into a unifi stack. I get around 900 both ways at the gateway, nearly identical to an edge wired device, and 250 wireless on an iPhone. Ive never felt like damn need my iPhone to be faster.

Go spend some time making sure your current setup is secure and your backups restore. Then maybe install some new APs

Might be a limitation of the hardware WiFi chip on the phone, software/server your testing on in speedtest app, ethernet cable from the modem to the router/AP, setting on the AP. Run a test with a ethernet cable going from a PC with a 10GB NIC directly to the modem/router and see what results you get with that.

If you test a hard wired connection and you have a 1.5g connection you will NOT get all of that speed due to a limit of your hard wired network interface (as it is likely a 1g NIC). Also, you may not have a multi gig interface on your router… So it would negotiate at 1g.

    What is your modem/router model?

    Just a heads up.
