Ok, so I currently have a combo unit (Netgear c6300 v2). I recently have had a couple issues with the unit but I cannot log into it. I have tried resetting the router, updating the password, using different browsers, different devices and I always get the same “can’t reach this page” or in the case of Firefox it does absolutely nothing (I have tried adding https:// in front of the ip address). The closest I got was with the nighthawk app which let me put in a password then pops the username/password box again.
That said, I am looking to replace this and have noticed that getting a separate modem and router are preferable to a combo unit. I am horrible when it comes to trying to shop for this as there are a LOT of options. I have 500 MPBS internet, and need something capable to handle two gaming PCs, Two streaming devices, three cellphones and occasionally a Nintendo Switch. Thanks in advance for your help!

The Spectrum supplied free modem works fine with your own router.
I don’t know what modems your ISP supports. But the Asus RT-AX86U is a good router.
