I have a remote heating control and remote security cameras.

They used to connect to the old router fine using the lower security method (WEP or WPA1 i think), the new router i have won’t do anything other than WPA2 and as a result i can’t reconnect them all to the network.

Outside of replacing them all (which i know is probably the final solution but i can’t afford right now), is there any way to connect these devices to the current network?

If not, is there a reasonable solution in adding a cheap access point / router to the current router to allow access via that (this addition would need to have the lower security settings specifically to allow the heating and camera access only).

I’m with Vodafone Fiber in the UK if that helps.

yes. If you get another AP that will use the older security standards and connect that to your router it will let you get those devices back onto your network.

I don’t stay on top of the current state of wifi security so I don’t know if doing this would be a not so great idea security wise, or if it would be a horrible choice security wise…
