I am a tenant, there are 3 of us. The two big ISPs in my neighborhood are ATT and Spectrum. I live at a house where the maximum speed for ATT is 100MBPS, and in our bedrooms we get more like 20mbps.

My landlord has spectrum through his job and can’t upgrade any of the hardware, and his WiFi box doesn’t reach the tenants rooms. There are some smaller ISPs in our area but I’ve never used them before.

Is ATT 100MBPS enough to power my high usage devices if I use a mesh WiFi system and have the box installed in my room?? Is there a way to get a roommate plan through spectrum? Help me out here

100mbps is fine for three people. What is your current speed through spectrum?

You and your roommates should split a 4 node mesh system. Main one goes where current router is, and you each get one in your room.

Any wifi 6 system will work just fine.

Some of the smaller ISPs may offer fiber. Would be worth it to check them out.

No clue what the speed through spectrum is, I just know I can’t get it in my room. Drops to 1 bar or no internet. We’re the type of people to have 4K streaming, smart home gadgets with automations, work from home, etc. is it still fast enough?

Also would my roommate upstairs have to change his hardware like his WiFi router to do the mesh thing? He is unable to do that.

Or do you mean we stick with the 100MBPS and we make a mesh system on our own using it?
