Hi, My parents finally have enough of their existing network and asked my to “make their WiFi work”. Currently, they run a Fritz!Box setup with WiFi repeaters. Main problem is in the absence of Ethernet cables and a difficult area to cover. They want smth that is low maintenance (since I would be doing that) and ✨just works✨. Budget doesn’t really exist but should not be much over 500-600€. Also cheaper would be nice and doesn’t need to be the absolute highest end but should support the 500mbit up down they have.

The house has 4 floors, with fiber coming into the basement. Each floor is 17mx7m large and has a ceiling height of 3-3.5m. The floor between the basement and ground floor is concrete, while the other floors are wooden. Walls are made out of bricks.

I convinced my parents to finally run a Ethernet cable from the basement to ground floor, ending at a relative central position in the floor.

I’ve worked with tp link Omada in the past, so my initial plan would be some fiber to Ethernet converter and then a ER7212PC router in the basement. Then add something like a EAP683 LR in the ground floor and maybe another AP in the basement, if required. I didn’t look into anything in depth yet, but would like to order smth ASAP since I’m home atm and could set it up in the coming days.

Thank you all for your help!

You added an Ethernet line from basement to floor above so there is no reason for a fiber media converter. I would get a 4 node tri-band mesh system, two will be wired and two will be wireless.
