Hey. Looking for some advice.
We have 4 BT ports in our flat and only the master socket by the front door works (so that’s where our router is). I’d love to be able to get it into the living room to plug my PS5 in via Ethernet, but the closest outlet for the internet/phone splitter is dead - as are all the other ones in other rooms.
Any idea how I can fix these? Or who I need to get in to fix them? I opened them up and they are a very basic connector with four multicoloured wires going into them (themselves encased in a thick white cable with a few extra unused wires in it).
I think a previous openreach enginner has disconnected all the extensions when that face plate was put on.
It’s quite common and reduces all the interference that screws with the broadband. Be warded if you move the router you will be in for a speed drop. Ideally you leave the router at the master socket and run ethernet to the PS.
This is what I suspected. Issue is, I can’t run an Ethernet to the PS5 easily as the router is in our hall by the front door, on the wrong side of the flat…
Look up how to make an ethernet wire. Looks like they used some to hook up phone lines. You may need to get a cheap tone generator from Amazon to track where your wires go in your house. And get some wire connectors to bypass a socket if needed.
