Basically I want one computer to be able to remotely control another, that it is right next to. Specifically, I want to be able to control it when it boots and be able to access BIOS, etc.

So the screen is easy, since any streaming capture card will send the HDMI out to a window on the normal computer which I can then remote into and observe. But controlling the input is a problem.

So does such a thing exist? Either software and a cable from one computer’s USB to the other (master to slave) or perhaps some kind of box that connects to a controller/master computer and then also the slave/controlled computer via USB?

I think a KVM switch is what you’re looking for. I’ve never used one but from I understand they do is pretty close to what you’re looking for. I used to run some software ages ago that would let me use a keyboard and mouse on a second computer as if it was another monitor but I can’t remember the name.

As for controlling the BIOS I’m not sure if you’ll find a 3rd party solution. Dell servers for example come with a special device called an iDRAC which does do what you want over the network but it’s obviously for Dell servers only.
