  • worst case scenario the device won’t work. example: some Axis cameras are “PoE++” and need special switches to power them. if you plug normal PoE devices into such switches however, they will be fine as the switch knows only to send regular low-calorie PoE to those devices.

    PoE is all 48v and the only difference is the available power which is switch-dependent.

    the data protocol negotiates the power requirement - it’s not like plugging a 110v device into a 220v outlet.
